David “=HPSF=Phoenix” Lustig has been a prominent presence at every EverLAN event since the first one in Spring of 2002. Whether participating in tournaments with his gaming clan, High Plains Strike Force (which has also attended every EverLAN in varying degrees), or assisting the tournament and event administrators, Phoenix made it clear to everyone very early that he was to be a permanent fixture of the EverLAN scene. In Winter of 2002, Phoenix had a decisive role in helping to bring the game Battlefield 1942 to EverLAN and to assist the tournament admins in helping the event run smoothly with server setup, rules, and map suggestions. The same assistance was provided to help run the Star Wars: Jedi Knight II tournaments and the Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield tournament at following events.
But Phoenix didn’t just help run these tournaments, he also played in them (and played very well, at that!) In the Winter 2002 Jedi Knight II tournament, Phoenix placed 3rd. In Summer 2003, Phoenix’s clan =HPSF= placed 2nd in the BF1942 tournament. At that same LAN, Phoenix and his friend Bighead won 1st place in the Raven Shield tournament, picking up some very nice Radeon 9800 Pro video cards in the process. And then =HPSF= won 3rd place at the Winter 2003 EverLAN. Yes, Phoenix has always been an integral part of EverLAN as both a gamer and an “informal” tournament admin. He’s extremely excited to be helping out officially now, as the Battlefield 1942 Tournament Admin for the Summer 2004 event.
As a gamer, Phoenix has always been open to any and all possibilities. His repertoire of past games include FPS (first person shooter) games such as CounterStrike, Quake, and Battlefield 1942, as well as Tactical shooters such as the Rainbow Six series from Tom Clancy. Phoenix is also just as comfortable with RTS (real-time strategy) games such as Warcraft, Starcraft, Command & Conquer and the Age of Empires/Mythology series from Microsoft. He even participates in MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing games) now and then, including Star Wars: Galaxies. You may even find him playing console games now and then, like Halo for the X-Box or Madden Football for the PS2. Presently, his favorite games are Battlefield 1942 and BF:Vietnam.
When not playing games, Phoenix enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Jennifer. Although, sometimes the two end up playing games together, since she’s fantastic at computer games too! Together, they enjoy making fun of “bad pop culture” such as reality TV shows, Britney Spears concerts, and pretty much anything shown on the FOX television network. They love taking trips to lesser-known museums and other such Americana - they spent a good portion of their honeymoon at the Mustard Museum in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin! In the real world, Phoenix is a Benefit Plan Administrator for an industry-leading financial planning/benefits corporation in Denver, Colorado. He also dabbles part-time at a local computer retailer where he vicariously builds computers with customers every night - “Yes, sir, I really think you need that Radeon 9800XT video card to play Wolfenstein 3D. And this AMD Athlon 64 too!” His wife is currently a student at Metropolitan State College of Denver. He has one lovely Yorkshire Terrier dog and a not-so-lovely Siamese cat.
