Blizzard announced their street date for the upcoming expansion…
Blizzard is proud to announce that World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade will be in stores nationwide starting on January 16, 2007. For further details, please view our latest press release here. We will continue closed beta testing the expansion content over the next couple of months prior to launch to ensure that we deliver a high-quality experience for our players.
Looks like anyone looking to throw a launch party is going to have to work this new date into their schedules!
Since Blizzard announced the new Burning Crusade expansion will also have a Collectors Edition available, EBGames.com has already posted it available for sale, then removed the product within 6 hours. There is a thread going on about the disappearance over on the WoW general forums.

It was posted for $69.99 + $5 surcharge for being “oversized”.
The Official Collectors Edition will feature:
* World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade on both CD and DVD
* World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Behind-the-Scenes DVD
* The Art of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Hardcover Art Book
* Exclusive In-Game Pet: Netherwhelp*
* Two World of Warcraft Trading Card Game Starter Packs, plus Exclusive Cards
* Map of Outland Mouse Pad
* World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Soundtrack CD
Read about the Collectors Edition at World of Warcraft.com.
The Netherwhelp pet will be just like the Diablo / Panda / Zergling pet in the original Collectors Edition in that it will not do anything other than follow you around and perhaps put on a fire display or fall asleep. It is said to be the offspring of the Nether Drake Flying Mount and is sure to be super cool!

I have finally seen some major events and tournaments popping up and it may just be the next step, albeit it is small, towards fortifying professional gaming as a realistic “career.” Read the rest of this entry »
